It shields the springs and steel edges of the unit to create a softer surface all the way around and to ensure that you and your family do not get pinches and scrapes. It also protects the jumper from falling on the steel frame or getting hurt from the springs. The trampoline safety pad is specifically made to fit a Garden trampoline with a round frame and contains high-density closed-cell foam that will not mildew or lose shape.
